Natyabharati Bhratanatyam Programs

PRAVEŚIKĀ – Basic Foundation Course

Duration: 30 Days (16 Classes)

Content:

  • Adavu (basic sets – Tatta, Natta, Paraval, Tirmana)
  • Single-hand gestures (Asamyuta Hastas)
  • Introduction to Navarasas (nine emotions)
  • Basic rhythm patterns
  • Group choreography – short adavu sequence (1 min)

Outcome:
Strong foundation in posture, rhythm, and expression.

MADHYAMĀ – Intermediate Level

Duration: 3 Months / 48 Classes)

  • Advanced Adavu – Part 1
  • Introduction to Abhinaya (expressions)
  • Double-hand gestures (Samyuta Hastas)
  • Devatā Hastas (divine hand gestures)
  • IM-2 (3 Months / 48 Classes)
  • Advanced Adavu – Part 2
  • Daśāvatāra Hastas (gestures of ten incarnations)
  • Bhedas (head, eye, neck, body movements)
  • Introduction to Bharatanatyam repertoire

Outcome:
Improved stamina, technical clarity, and expressive vocabulary.

UTTAMĀ – Advanced Course

Duration: 6 Months (October – March, 96 Classes)

Content: Complete Margam Foundation with 6 items:

  1. Alarippu
  2. Jatiswaram

  5. Varnam
  6. Tillana

Outcome:
Experience a structured Margam and perform selected items at a group level. (Arangettam requires 3–4 years of training).

Saranya Mohan is a renowned Indian film actress and Bharatanatyam dancer, trained under her dancer-parents at Y.K.B Dance Academy, Alappuzha. With an MFA in Bharatanatyam and over 30 films to her credit in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu cinema, she now leads Natyabharati Academy, Koliyoor, Trivandrum, inspiring students worldwide with her artistry and stage experience.
